Historical Time Line

• In 1868, Friedrich August Kupfer, a farmer, founds the Feldschlobchen Brewery. In the same year, their first larger beer is brewed.

• In 1889, the brewery goes public, becoming the Feldschlobchen-Brauerei AG.

• Business increases after the war. The "Malzerei and Garkeller" are modernized. New rooms for bottle cleaning are completed.

• Yearly production reaches approximately 40,000 hl until the end of the second world war.

• Dispossessed after WW2 and through the occupation of the Soviet Union. The name changes to VEB " Vereinigte Brauerein Chemnitz, Sud" meaning " United Brewery of Chemnitz, South."

• There is a shortage of raw materials. In spite of this, the quality of the beer remains high.

• There is and increased demand for, " Doppel-Caramel," and "Kappler Braumeister."

• After the reunification of Germany in 1989, output increased to 160,000 lh where it remains today.

• Production of draft beer begins, production has increased by 23% since that time.

• In MARCH 1991, 41 MILLION deutschmarks (DM ) is invested in modernizing the brewery.

• In 1996, a new draft beer production facilitie is built for 400,000 DM.

• Presently, there are 56 employees and six types of beer in regular production BLACK ART GOLD, DOPPEL-CARAMEL, BLACK ART BEER.

• We produce two specialty beers, KAPPER BRAUMEISTER, and KAPPER FESTBIER, during certain times of the year.
